HOW TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF BOARD OF CHOICE
A Broker or Designated REALTOR® (and their office) must be in good standing with the National Association of REALTORS® and Michigan REALTORS® and at a minimum, a secondary member with MCAR before anyone in their office can be eligible for membership. *Membership status will be verified.
Just as paperwork is a part of every real estate transaction, it’s also a part of local association membership! Although MCAR is about 90% paperless, membership applications for the Broker/DR and REALTOR® applicant, is required. Just click the button below to download the required applications. You’re welcome to mail, email, or drop them off in person.
The Broker/DR is required to pay local MCAR dues, as is the agent. If the Broker/DR, and/or agent have not paid their NAR/MR dues for this current membership year, those must be collected as well. If applicants have not held REALTOR® status in another local Association, New Member Orientation (taken online) is an additional fee of $10.
Primary members are required to subscribe to the MLS. MLS and/or Supra fees will be invoiced to the Broker/DR and/or Corporate, each month. It is up to them how they collect from agents, but MCAR requires payment within the time specified.
Once all applications and fees have been received by the MCAR office, we will begin the processing of your information, including setting you up in the MLS and Supra if applicable. Applicants are provisional members until the MCAR Board of Directors officially approves your membership. Presence is not required at the BOD meeting.
Each MCAR Realtor® Member whether Primary or Secondary, must complete the NAR required Code of Ethics Training every 24 months.
